Troubleshooting printing issues

Experiencing issues while printing your receipts? Learn how to check your printer's connection and troubleshoot common printing errors

Updated over a week ago

⚠️ As printer settings may vary depending on the country of manufacture, we always suggest testing them with the app before completing your purchase.

Kyte can connect with mini thermal printers via Bluetooth. If you are using the app on an iOS device, the printer needs to support Bluetooth 4.0 but if the device is Android, a printer with Bluetooth 2.0 or higher will be recognized.

Communication between the app and the printer is carried out in ESC/POS language. Models that do not use this language can even be recognized but do not complete the print. Receipt size can be 58mm or 80mm as you prefer.

The web version of Kyte connects to both mini Bluetooth thermal printers and laser printers. The printer model will depend on its compatibility with your computer.

Checking the printer connection

On Kyte Web

Make sure your printer is set up properly and perform a print test on Windows or macOS to check if the printer responds to commands. If the printer works well with the driver you installed, it will also work with Kyte.

⚠️ Important: it is necessary to install the printer driver on Windows or macOS to ensure it works properly.

If you have already installed the printer on Windows or macOS, follow these steps to set it up on Kyte. For other operating systems, please consult the manufacturer’s instructions.

In Your Kyte App

Make sure the printer is connected via Bluetooth.

If your mobile device is already paired with the printer, follow these steps to set it up on Kyte.

👉For Android: See the instructions here.

👉For iOS: See the instructions here.

⚠️ Remember to check the printer manufacturer’s pairing recommendations.

Fixing printing errors

On Kyte Web

  1. Clear the browser's cache and cookies.

    👉Safari

  2. Make sure the paper size settings in Kyte are the same as those in the browser’s print preview window.

  3. You may also need to adjust the scale to fit to printable area or fit to paper.

In Your Kyte App

  1. Disconnect the printer.

  2. Update or reinstall Kyte.

  3. Restart your device.

  4. Reconnect the printer.

If you're using Kyte on an Android device, consider installing drivers that optimize receipt printing.

Logo not printing

Communication between the app and the printer is done using a text language so the logo will not be printed. If you’re using Kyte on an Android device, you can install specific drivers that can print the receipt as an image, including the logo. After the sale, share the receipt and choose the driver from the list of available apps.

Alternatively, you can access Kyte on your computer and print the receipt with the logo on Kyte Web.

Incorrect Characters

Make sure your printer can print the specific characters you need. If you use Kyte on an Android device, you can download drivers that allow you to print the receipt as an image, with the correct font, characters, and logo. After making a sale, share the receipt and choose the driver from the list of available apps.

If none of these steps work, please contact our support team with the model and brand of your printer, a photo of the receipt, and any other relevant details. We are always here to help you 🤝
