How to update your customer base in bulk

Quickly update your customer data using an Excel or Google Sheets file on your computer.

✅ What you’ll learn

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to update your customer data in bulk on Kyte using an Excel or Google Sheets file.

⚠️ Web version only

This bulk update option is available only on the web version. If you only use the app, consider upgrading your plan to access this feature. 👀

⚠️ The bulk update only changes the registration data of your customers, like name, phone and email. It does not change the pay later balance or the credit of customer accounts. Even if you change the balance in the spreadsheet, it stays the same in Kyte. You adjust the balance one customer at a time, in the customer account.

💻 On Kyte Web

  1. Go to the Customers menu on Kyte Web

  2. Click the icon next to + Customer and select Update existing

  3. Download the template spreadsheet and open the file in Excel or Google Sheets

⚠️ Important: Do not alter the structure of the spreadsheet or rearrange rows or columns, as this may cause errors during import.

  4. Edit the data you wish to update in the spreadsheet

  5. Save the updated file in .xls format

  6. In Kyte, click Continue

  7. Select the updated spreadsheet and click Next

  8. Do not change the data fields or columns when confirming

  9. Confirm that everything is correct and click Next to let the system process the changes

💡 Helpful tips

🚨 The process only transfers text data.

📋 Keep the structure of the spreadsheet intact to ensure successful import.

📤 The spreadsheet you export in the Customers menu of Kyte Web, with the Export button, is the same one you use to update customer data in bulk. It also shows the current balance of each customer account.

✏️ Example: to change the phone number of 50 customers, change only the phone column and keep the rest of the spreadsheet the same.
